Y.E.T.I. Hibernates... But You Don’t Have To!

Just like real Yeti's, we take it easy during the heat of the summer—after all, it’s a bit too hot for us! But while we’re recharging for another adventurous season, there are plenty of other awesome programs to get involved in. Summer Programs

Big City Mountaineers

Unknown ages. Gradual wilderness introduction with day hikes, front-country camping, and week-long backpacking trips. Learn more

Bike Works Summer Camps

Unknown ages. Active cycling camps promoting environmental stewardship, leadership, community engagement, and healthy living. Learn more.

Braided Seeds

All ages, families too. Black-centering nonprofit creating opportunities for BIPOC communities to experience the Pacific Northwest through rest, restoration, and land connection. Learn more

Burien Parks, Recreation

Grades 1-9. Summer day camps, including Camp CRAZ and Burien Teen Summer Crew, at the Burien Community Center. Learn more

YMCA Bold and Gold

Middle school to high school youth. Week-long backpacking trips with activities like climbing, art, canoeing, hiking, and more to develop leadership skills. Learn more. 

Summer Internships (Paid)

King County – Youth Conservation Corps Internship (YCC)

Rising 10th, 11th, or 12th grade students. Interns work for six summer weeks with King County Parks & Recreation Division staff at multiple Parks locations to better understand the breadth and depth of environmental justice, conservation, environmental stewardship, and parks and recreation management practices. The program will provide growth and learning opportunities, foster positive work relationships, and support youth in experiencing the work life environment. Learn more

Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, Pacific Education Institute, and school districts – Youth Engaged in Sustainable Systems (YESS)

Current high school students in Highline or Riverview School DistrictsTwo cohorts of high school students experience working as part of a restoration crew while earning a stipend and graduation credit and exploring green careers. Learn more

Partner in Employment – Youth Restoration Crew

Ages 16-24. Over 10 weeks, crew members focus on environmental education and training in environmental topics while completing restoration projects in parks. This program happens every quarter. Learn more
