Are you passionate about the outdoors or working with youth? Do you love going on outdoor adventures? Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of youth in the community? If you answer yes to any of these questions consider joining the awesome team of Y.E.T.I. Guides!
We provide training in facilitation and Y.E.T.I.’s policies and procedures, striving to make sure that every volunteer feels successful. Our volunteers help steer the direction of our programming as we grow and adapt. Volunteering with Y.E.T.I. is an opportunity to give back to your community in a meaningful and rewarding way.
What skills do you need to become a guide?
Our guides come with all different types of skills and abilities. Some are avid hikers while others are mountaineers. Whatever outdoor skills you have, we want you to share them with our participants. We will make sure to train you in whatever activity you are leading and hope that you take advantage of our programs to improve your own skills as well!
Are their different levels of guides?
Yes! All guides start off as assistant guides to gain hands-on experience on trips. After going through our training and getting a WFA certification you can become a lead guide when you feel ready. For more information about guide, requirements read the documents below.
What is the time commitment for Y.E.T.I. guides?
Volunteer as much or as little as you want! Most guides attend a trip every other month and help lead a summer program. If you volunteer for 5 days a year you will receive a Y.E.T.I. Jacket and we will pay for 50% of your WFA certification.
